Rancho Sin Vacas is a beautiful, secluded, 12-acre property on the North Fork of the Duchesne River. Located at the base of the Ashley National Forest in Hanna, Utah. Hanna's population is about 100, luckily, my site is sandwhiched between Navajo Red Sandstone outcroppings. This no traffic light, one gas station town is 78 miles east of Salt Lake City. Has the charm of locals waving at on coming cars and a grocery store that sells milk and horseshoes by the pound. My Ranch house has an updated kitchen complete with a set of new appliances, dining room, a living room with a new leather queen bed sofa sleeper, a full bath, one large bedroom with a queen bed, and a bedroom cantilevered over the river with a queen bed (max occupancy of rented area is 6). The cantilevered room was originally built 40 years ago and is the only legal cantilevered structure over the Duchesne River. Windows are on all sides, with electric heat, not radiant. The front deck of the ranch house is 25 feet from the river and a large fire pit 15 feet from the river. A small campfire area and seating is on the river bank under the cantilevered bedroom...3 feet from the river. I own about 1/4 mile of river frontage, both sides...three to four fishing holes are present, where brown and rainbow trout reside. Guests can fish up and down the Duchesne River for miles, since the State of Utah Department of Resources purchased these rights in the 70's. So fish as long as you want and come back and hang out near the river... the mesmerizing sound of the river and the the bright stars at 6800 feet is spectacular way to unwind for the day. For over 20 years, Rancho Sin Vacas has served as a sandbox for raising my three daughters. It is time to share this gem. Come fish and play on my property on the Duchesne River. There are many more hikes and horseback riding trails right from the front door along the North Fork River and a mile hike to a small 8ft waterfall from the cabin up a beautiful side valley following Swift Creek, pine trees and Aspens. The famous North Fork River for fishing or tubbing, passes the house within walking distance and meets up with a bigger river, Duchesne River in Hanna for river fishing. We will let you know where our secret swim hole and zip line is on the North Fork River just a stretch of the legs by the cabin when you check in. Only street legal vehicles are allowed in this valley that has 3 camp grounds, Aspen, Castle Cliff Campground, Hades, and Iron Mine, but if you enjoy 4 wheeling, 100's of miles of trails in the High Uinta's, right off Wolf Creek Pass, are just a 10 minute trailer ride away. Street legal Razors are allowed to leave right from the property to 100's of miles of mountain trails. There is also a turn off in Hanna, just 10 minutes the other way, that takes you to 4 wheeler trails to the top of Castle Rock where you get a view of Hades Lake and our valley, or take the trails to Still Water Dam, all are located with in Ashley National Forest. Starvation Lake is a 45 minute drive from the cabin and is great for all boating activities. It also has a nice beach area and rentals of all sorts for fun on the lake. We enjoy Starvation, because its not as busy as other Utah lakes. Razors are allowed to drive in the valley if they are street legal, bring your 4 wheelers but if they aren't street legal, you'll have to trailer them a short distance to the many trails in the Uinta Mountains. Bring all of your toys because there is something to do with them all year round, bikes, horses, fishing poles, tubes, 4 wheelers, Razors, hiking shoes, snow shoes, cross country skiing, snowmobile right from the house plus many trails from Wolf Creek Pass, and boating! We spend time at the cabin in the summer and trailer our boat to Starvation Res (little Lake Powell). it is beautiful and less crowded than any other Utah lakes and only 46 miles from the cabin. The property itself is 3 acres, the house is 2900 sq ft, with an extra 1300 sq ft of outdoor decking living space with an outdoor fire place on the deck. The house overlooks Swift Creek (seasonal creek that runs year round based on mountain snow pack) that runs through the property and makes a beautiful waterfall sound. If swift Creek happens to be dry, you can hear the larger North Fork River from the house too. The cabin has a nice size fire pit with bench seating is just steps away from the front door. North Fork, where the cabin is nestled, is a beautiful valley with mountains that have beautiful rock formations and cliffs, Lightning Ridge, Castle Rock, and Stone Face to name a few. Also at the cabin is a wonderful master suite with an extra deep soaker tub. Master has its own walk out deck. Large loft and pool table, loft has its own walk out deck with amazing views of valley and river. 2 bedrooms on main floor with 1 bathroom. Open concept main living area and kitchen. Walk out basement with 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and family room with 65 inch flat screen set up just for watching DVD movies. The cabin has no internet but gets wonderful cell phone reception if you want to use a hot spot off of your phone. In the valley is Defa's Dude Ranch about 1.5 miles away that offers horseback riding for rent, cafe, and saloon. Bedrooms in the cabin, master has a king bed, in-suite bathroom with walk in shower, double sinks, and soaker tub that has an amazing view of Lightning Ridge. Main floor has 2 bedroom, one with a king bed, the other bedroom has a queen bed with 2 twin. There is a main floor bathroom with a tub/shower. StarView Retreat is an easily accessible, isolated cabin located on a private 40+ acre parcel bordering Starvation Reservoir State Park. This beautifully decorated cabin has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The 40 acre property around the cabin has many unique rock formations and a few small canyons great for exploring. The property is bordered on the East by the State Park and on the West by a 9000 acre Wildlife Management Area. A boat ramp is 5 minutes away and the State Park Beach is 15 minutes from the cabin. The small town of Duchesne is 10 minutes away with a grocery store and a few convenience stores and restaurants. StarView Retreat features four comfortable bedrooms, and two bathrooms. Townhome has two bedrooms with queen beds upstairs and a full bathroom. Downstairs has the living room with a hide-a-bed couch and two recliners and the full kitchen stocked with utensils, pots and pans, and table. There is a cable TV in the living room and each bedroom along with internet access. There is a half bathroom downstairs as well, washer and dryer upstairs, and central air conditioning.

This beautiful log cabin resides in Woodland, Utah at the base of the Uinta National Forest. 8 miles outside of Kamas. Nearby there are many ski and snowboarding resorts, lakes, rivers, hiking and some of the most spectacular mountains on earth. You can snowshoe, fish, canoe, paddle board and more! It is secluded, and away from the city. We have buffalo's as our neighbors! Kamas is the nearest town for gas and groceries, 15 minutes away. Try the famous Woodland Biscuit company for breakfast when you stay! Please follow directions when coming here, as sometimes cell phone service is sparce. The bed room is a large, open, gorgeous loft trimmed with juniper. Keep an eye out for the wildlife! There are big cats, bears, eagles and coyotes in the area. Be aware as the winter months come, that there can be a lot of snow here, so 4WD will be very helpful, if not required. My cat Sampson, who is a mild mannered indoor-outdoor cat also lives here! He may be on the property when u stay.

There are poles intended for up to three hammocks. The on-property creek contains plenty of trout, but for those who want a sure thing the Fun Family Fishing Trout Farm is walking distance. They guarantee a catch, will provide rods and even clean the fish for you while you wait. The entertainment area includes a BBQ for grilling them up for a healthy meal, and the enclosed yard with a large playground allows the kids to run around without having to worry about them wandering down to the river or the road unattended. There are plenty of summer activities in the area, including dozens of hiking and biking trails, canoeing, kayaking, boating and water skiing at the nearby Jordanelle reservoir. Head the other way and you're on the scenic drive to to Mirror Lake, but don't forget to stop at the waterfall! As a testament to the location, in 2016 Mirror Lake Retreat was selected for an on-location photoshoot for Eider Sportswear. Winter: This is snowmobiling and snowshoeing country, but several Ski resorts, including the Canyons, Park City and Deer Valley are less than 20 minutes away. The well plowed roads all winter ensure you are never snowed in. The place is just off the highway, ensuring year-round hassle-free accessibility. In the winter the National Park closes the roads, providing thousands of acres of pristine snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Year-round: Run across the street to the Samak Smokehouse whenever you get a hankering for the best Jerky and smoked cheeses on the planet. (We've tried quite a few). This place also carries high-quality organics. Our personal favorites are the homemade caramels and pomegranate licorice. After all that snacking, hit up the local rec-center to swim a few laps, float the lazy river, zip around the water slide, play a round of racquetball or climb the rock wall. Notes from review feedback: 1. In August 2020 the Internet was upgraded to 200mbps high speed internet with a mesh network for full connectivity throughout the property. 2. In early 2017 the cabin was updated with a new tankless water heating system and backup system and has ensured no further issues with hot water. 3. There is no air conditioning in this unit as it is not necessary except for a few nights each year. The cabin is nestled in a sheltered canyon which is often 10 degrees or more cooler than the surrounding area and channels a cool breeze in the summer. We have found that there are only a handful of nights a year when it feels warm, and overhead and portable fans are available for these times. To keep the cabin cool on warm days, open windows just before sunset and close all windows around 10 am and keep them closed throughout the day.
